Free XML sitemap generator converting a URL list into a valid sitemap with lastmod and priority

An XML sitemap generator is a free online SEO tool that converts a list of page URLs into a valid sitemap.xml file. Paste one URL per line, set lastmod, changefreq and priority, then copy or download the finished sitemap and submit it in Google Search Console for faster indexing.

Your sitemap.xml

What is an XML sitemap?

An XML sitemap is a machine-readable list of your site's pages that helps search engines discover and crawl them efficiently. It lists each URL with optional hints: lastmod (when it changed), changefreq (how often) and priority (relative importance). It does not guarantee indexing, but it speeds up discovery, especially for new or large sites.

Keep sitemaps to 50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed per file; larger sites use a sitemap index that lists multiple sitemap files.

How do I submit a sitemap to Google?

Upload sitemap.xml to your domain root, then open Google Search Console, go to Sitemaps in the left menu, and enter the sitemap URL. Google will fetch it and report how many URLs were discovered. You can also reference the sitemap in robots.txt with a Sitemap: line so every crawler finds it automatically.

After submitting, watch the coverage report: "Discovered - currently not indexed" often means the pages need stronger internal links, not a better sitemap.

What should changefreq and priority be?

Set changefreq to match reality: daily for news, weekly for blogs, monthly for static pages. Priority is relative within your own site (1.0 for the homepage, lower for archives) - it does not boost you above competitors. Google treats both as hints, not commands, so honest values work best and lastmod accuracy matters more.

  1. Paste your page URLs, one per line.
  2. Set lastmod, changefreq and priority.
  3. Click Generate sitemap and review the XML.
  4. Download sitemap.xml, upload it to your domain root and submit it in Search Console.

Frequently asked questions

Is this XML sitemap generator free?

Yes. Generate unlimited sitemaps from any URL list with no account and no daily caps. Everything runs in your browser.

How many URLs can a sitemap hold?

One sitemap supports up to 50,000 URLs or 50 MB uncompressed. Larger sites split URLs across multiple sitemaps listed in a sitemap index file.

What happens to invalid URLs in my list?

They are skipped automatically and listed under the preview so you can fix them. Only valid http and https URLs make it into the XML.

Does a sitemap guarantee Google will index my pages?

No. A sitemap helps Google discover URLs faster, but indexing still depends on content quality, internal links and crawl budget.

Where do I upload sitemap.xml?

Upload it to your domain root (example.com/sitemap.xml), then submit that URL in Google Search Console under Sitemaps and reference it in robots.txt.
